Future of corals : Infographic poster series

The project was featured on Design by Women in 2022, gaining recognition for its approach to combining design solutions with themes of marine biology and environmental awareness. The work also attracted the attention of Stream Ocean for its exploration of coral ecosystems, climate change, and visual communication surrounding ocean conservation.

This project is inspired by one of Earth’s most complex and fragile ecosystems: coral reefs. Developed as a personal project, it reflects on the devastating effects of climate change and the environmental factors contributing to coral bleaching and the gradual extinction of coral species. At the same time, it serves as a celebration of the intricate structures, textures, and forms that corals create, highlighting the essential role they play within marine ecosystems and human wellbeing. It is estimated that more than half a billion people depend on coral reefs for protection, food, and income.

Through this project, I aimed to experiment with the use of 3D design to emphasise the beauty and uniqueness of different coral species, while adding my own visual interpretation to each form. Every coral featured within the project is accompanied by its own description, composition, and explanation of the environmental threats it faces.

Alongside the visual work, the project also includes an information design piece focused specifically on coral bleaching and its effects over time. By combining research, digital experimentation, and environmental awareness, the project seeks to encourage reflection on the importance of preserving these ecosystems and recognising their impact on both nature and human life.
