Free From: A little celiac zine

This zine was created as part of my Final Major Project for Visual Communications and Design at University of the Arts London. The project stems from personal experience, having been recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease myself. In the beginning, I often found it difficult to navigate social situations due to a lack of knowledge and experience surrounding the condition. Simple activities such as attending gatherings with friends became challenging, whether because I could not eat what was available or because meals needed to be carefully planned in advance.

The aim of the zine is to make living with Celiac Disease feel more approachable and engaging, while providing fellow Celiacs with accessible information about the condition alongside a collection of intriguing gluten-free recipes. The publication combines personal reflection, research, and community interaction to create a project that feels both informative and relatable.

The data featured throughout the publication was gathered through questionnaires completed by members of the Celiac community, making the zine interactive while incorporating a range of personal experiences and feedback. The final publication was printed using a Risograph machine, allowing each copy to become unique through variations in tonalities, textures, and slight misregistrations, reinforcing the tactile and handmade quality of the project.
